Five of Cape Coral City Council’s seven spots were up for grabs Tuesday night, with a pair of incumbents still trying to hang onto their seats after their colleagues didn’t make it this far for various reasons.
The slots are elected at-large. Terms are four years, and members are limited to two consecutive terms. As the position is nonpartisan, all voters regardless of party affiliation got to vote on these candidates.
Council members are paid a base annual salary of $37,368.96. Last year, the council approved stipends worth another $39,996 a year, which proved to be an unpopular choice with this year’s slate of challengers and a driving force in the campaigns.
Here’s what to know about the results.
