The Estero Historical Society recently announce a $5,000 donation from longtime supporters Mark and Ramona Novitski.
This money will fund scholarships for students who demonstrate a “passion for Estero’s history” through an annual essay contest, according to a press release.
Mark Novitski, representing the Historical Society, developed the essay contest alongside Professor Vicki Risko, Professor Emerita of Language, Literacy, and Culture at Vanderbilt University, to encourage local students to “engage with and appreciate the unique history of Estero.”
Estero High students are enouraged to write essays about Estero, with winning submissions. The Estero Historical Society, Estero Chamber of Commerce and Engage Estero each award $1,000 to high school winners.
“We are grateful for Mark and Ramona’s unwavering support of our mission and their belief in the power of education,” said Society Board President, Gail Langner. “Their donation will directly benefit local students and inspire a new generation to appreciate and preserve Estero’s heritage.”
