PUNTA GORDA — Charlotte County residents, volunteers and former military members are teaming together to support area veterans this month, according to a news release from Volunteers of America of Florida.
The assistances has been geared toward the Punta Gorda Veterans Village.
“Over the past month and a half, the residents and businesses of Charlotte County have generously come together to collect essential home-good items, demonstrating an overwhelming outpour of support and gratitude towards those who have served our country,” it stated.
At 1 p.m., Dec. 6, a truck filled with donations is set to arrive at the facility.
“These essentials will then be presented to the Veterans during a festive holiday gathering in the community room,” it stated.
The “HomeGoods for Heroes” celebration “marks not only a day of festive cheer but also the culmination of an extensive six-week campaign of collecting, organizing, and giving — all in the name of our veterans,” it stated.
