Bonita Bill’s is closing after three decades in business.
With its “No shirt? No shoes? Can we get you a beer?” motto, the iconic Fort Myers Beach restaurant and bar was a visitor and local favorite, known for its laid-back vide, good food, cold beer and spectacular waterfront views of Matanzas Pass.
The announcement came via a post on the San Carlos Island gem’s social media pages in the early morning hours of Thursday, Dec. 26.
“Bonita Bill’s will be closing its doors with last day of operations on Sunday, January 5 th ,” the post read. “We want to thank everyone who has visited us and supported us over the last 30+ years.”
Bonita Bill’s and its properties at 700, 702, 716 and 718 Fishermans Wharf on Fort Myers Beach were listed for sale at $7.98 million back in June. The property had dropped to a $6,900,000 asking price.
“We will continue to remain open and operate as usual until the property is sold sometime in the future,” a post announcing the sale stated.
And it has been and will continue for the very near future.
