Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast recently honored Hannah Bagnall of Sarasota and Travis Brown of Fort Myers as their 2024 Big Brother and Big Sister of the Year.
A vibrant spirit with a passion for theater and education, Bagnall understood early the importance of nurturing young souls. Growing up in Missouri, surrounded by family and foreign exchange students, she recognized the beauty of big families and the voices that sometimes needed encouragement to emerge.
With a heart full of love and creativity, Bagnall made an impact through her workbook, Hannah’s Enchantments, designed to inspire and uplift children. As “Big” and “Little” sisters, Bagnall and Samauria’s remarkable journey is a powerful testament to the transformative power of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Bagnall’s dedication and creativity empowered Samauria to overcome her challenging past and find her voice, while Samauria’s remarkable resilience and determination inspired Hannah to become an outstanding mentor.
Brown is a volunteer mentor who has dedicated his life to helping at-risk youth. His gentle demeanor and warm smile made Little Brother Mason feel safe. Mason is a thriving pre-teenager with a bright future ahead and he continues to receive the unwavering support of his mentor. Mason’s story is evidence of the profound difference one caring adult Big Brother can make in the life of a child.
