Photos of the Year: See SWFL through the lens of Photojournalist Ricardo Rolon

As 2024 comes to an end, I have an opportunity to look back and reflect on some of the most memorable moments and events of the past year. From celebrations and jubilation, to fear and sadness, these moments capture an entire range of emotions. And our community persevered through it all.

Working in Southwest Florida as a photojournalist I have a broad view of its diverse culture and unique personality. And I am grateful for the opportunity to capture it all.

A big story: covering hurricanes

The biggest story of the year for me was the impact of major hurricanes in our area , especially within the coastal communities along Lee and Collier counties. Our coverage team was quick to deploy and aimed to bring readers continuous coverage conveying the storm’s impact from the ground and the air.
