Cape Coral police arrest suspect in vehicle burglary

CAPE CORAL, Florida — A suspect was arrested following a vehicle burglary incident early on December 24, 2024, according to the Cape Coral Police Department. Officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress near SE 46th Street.The reporting party noticed a silhouette inside their vehicle with the driver’s side door open as they left for work. Upon closing their front door, the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The police were called immediately, and the reporting party provided a detailed description of the suspect’s attire.Officers located a suspect matching the description at the intersection of SE 45th Street and SE 14th Avenue. The individual, identified as 19-year-old Jaden Donovan, was detained. Video footage from a neighbor captured the incident, stated the Cape Coral Police Department.Donovan was charged with burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, a third-degree felony, and loitering and prowling, a first-degree misdemeanor, according to the department. The Cape Coral Police Department expressed gratitude to the community for their vigilance and cooperation in ensuring neighborhood safety.
