A few years after a large-scale development was first planned for a parcel at State Road 776 and Gasparilla Road, a new plan is making its way through Charlotte County’s planning process.
A Florida developer is seeking to revive a proposed development at the intersection across from the Gulf Cove Publix.
A rezoning would see the subdivision known as “Harbor Village” support roughly 2,000 dwelling units — split between single- and multifamily housing — along with 250,000 square feet of commercial space.
Harbor Village was part of a larger ”West County Town Center” project proposed by Oklahoma-based developer GBR Properties, which applied for mixed-use development on 408 acres of the property in 2020.
A plan amendment application was submitted earlier this year by Lakes County-based Maronda Homes LLC of Florida, that would reclassify much of the roughly 843-acre property to planned development.
Harbor Village would border Village of Holiday Lake mobile home park to the south of the property.
