COLUMN: Some new year’s resolutions for you to consider

It’s time for my new year’s resolutions.

Do people still do new year’s resolutions? Maybe not.

I know few of them are ever kept.

The most common ones over the years are to lose weight, quit drinking (alcohol of course) and to be nicer.

As noble as those resolutions are, there are many, many people who fail to keep them before summertime rolls around.

Perhaps we can do better in 2025.

I’m going out on a limb and make a few bold resolutions for some people I know (or know of):

• Stephen R. Deutsch to slow down and get at least six hours sleep a night.

• Congressman Greg Steube (R-Sarasota) to have more community town halls, open to everyone.

• Charlotte County Fairgrounds boss Kam Mahshie, to make this year’s fair the best ever.

• Arcadia City Council candidate Chelsea Palmer, to run again.

• Punta Gorda City Council members, to shake things up, but not tear things down.

• Bob Carpenter, to always keep his life jacket close.

• West Villagers for Responsible Government members, give up the de-annexation idea. It’s expensive and divisive.
