CAPE CORAL, Florida ( MyFloridaNews ) — A Cape Coral man was arrested after barricading himself in a garage during a domestic disturbance, according to the Cape Coral Police Department. The incident occurred on December 26, 2024, near NW 15th Avenue and NW 2nd Terrace.Christopher Michael Peel, a 42-year-old resident, was reported to have been battering a woman he was in a relationship with, as per a 911 call. Upon the arrival of police, Peel refused to cooperate and locked himself in the garage, making statements that he would only leave “in a body bag,” according to the department. The Cape Coral Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit took over the investigation, and due to Peel’s erratic behavior, the SWAT team was activated. Peel eventually exited the garage and was taken into custody without further incident.Peel was charged with false imprisonment and battery and was taken to the Lee County Jail, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.
