SARASOTA — Get ready to bust out the long sleeves and those revived Ugg boots.
Florida is set to be one of many states to receive a rather chilly introduction to 2025 this week.
An Arctic outbreak — a very cold air mass that typically originates in the Siberian Region of Asia, crosses over the North Pole into Canada and pushes into the lower Southeast U.S. — coupled with Winter Storm Blair’s northeast entrance will cause a major dip in local temperatures.
The cold snap will cut through Sarasota, Charlotte and DeSoto counties that will experience multiple days in the 40s, 50s and 60s this week, according to the National Weather Service.
Sweater weatherThe region will need to bundle up the most on Tuesday and Thursday night, with temperatures lowering to 41 degrees, and early morning wind gusts pushing in 39 degree weather.
Though sunshine is forecast through Friday evening, peak daylight hours will not pass 71 degrees and offer a cooling breeze for people to take a sweat-free midday stroll.
