CAPE CORAL, Florida — The Cape Coral Police Department conducted an impaired driving enforcement operation on January 3, 2025, resulting in 17 total citations. The operation, named “You Booze & Cruise, You Lose,” was conducted citywide.
The operation took place from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., during which officers made 48 total traffic stops, issued 33 warnings, and handed out six speed citations, according to a press release from the department. Additionally, 15 moving citations and one non-moving citation were issued, along with one criminal citation. There were no DUI arrests, but one arrest was made for other reasons.
The operation was funded by a sub-grant from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). Cape Coral ranks 7th out of 37 agencies in impaired driving for traffic fatalities and serious injuries on the Highway Safety Matrix in Florida. To enhance traffic safety, the department has partnered with FDOT’s Traffic Safety Office to implement additional enforcement and education through saturation patrols.
