Former jail guard accused of giving inmate a cellphone to continue romantic relationship

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (WWSB) – A former DeSoto correctional officer has been arrested and charged with slipping a cell phone to an inmate she had a romantic relationship with, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said.

Aunusty C. Dominguez, 23, formerly known as Austyn Kellogg, is accused of giving a cellphone to Trey Borders while he was an inmate in the DeSoto County Jail. Dominguez was a corrections officer from February 2021 until March 2023 when she resigned.
