CCPD: Midyear report shows drop in crime numbers

The Cape Coral Police Department reports “a remarkable 28% overall reduction in crime” year-over-year for the first half of 2025.

“This achievement reflects more than just numbers — it is a clear testament to the hard work and unwavering commitment of our dedicated officers, the support and vigilance of our community, and our department’s ongoing investment in innovative, data-driven policing,” CCPF officials said in as release issues Friday.

“Between January 1 and June 30, 2025, Cape Coral experienced significant declines in nearly every major crime category,” the release states. “Overall reported crime dropped from 2,076 cases in the first half of 2024 to just 1,487 this year, showcasing a substantial improvement in community safety. Robbery figures followed the positive trend, decreasing by 20%.
