‘Come on, brother. You promised:’ Standoff ends as Florida fugitive surrenders

LEE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A wanted fugitive who escaped from a St. Petersburg correctional facility earlier this month is back in custody after a tense two-hour standoff.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said at around 11:30 a.m., deputies responded to an apartment on Lavin Lane in North Fort Myers, where they found 33-year-old Jamie Jenks — a fugitive who had been on the run since August 3.

Upon arrival, Jenks barricaded himself inside the apartment, prompting the deployment of LCSO’s Special Operations Unit and crisis negotiators, according to the news release…
