NORTH CAROLINA — The grieving mother of 18-year-old Giovanni Pelletier says her family, not law enforcement, made the heartbreaking discovery of his body after he went missing earlier this month, pushing back against what she calls damaging online rumors.
Bridgette Pelletier revealed in an emotional Facebook post that her son was found “after a desperate search by OUR FAMILY ALONE”, not by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office or any other agency, according to Hindustan Times.

The discovery was made on Saturday, August 9, when a decomposing body was located near the area where Giovanni had last been seen. His family later confirmed it was him.
