Florida DUI driver charged after slamming into car stopped at light, causing 4-car crash

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (WFLA) — A Lehigh Acres man is facing ten felony charges after slamming into a car that was stopped at a red light, causing a four-car crash and then attempting to flee multiple times.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office shared video of the crash captured on a traffic camera. It shows a red pickup truck moving at a very high speed and rear-ending a white sedan that was stopped at the light. The sedan is shoved forward into the other cars waiting at the light, the sheriff’s office said.

Witnesses told police that even after hitting the car, the pickup didn’t stop and continued through the red light.

The driver, later identified as 40-year-old Neil Simoga, then crashed into another car and again fled the scene. Simoga eventually lost control of the truck and crashed into trees and shrubs on the side of the road.
