CCSO: Fight at Publix checkout line leads to bug spray in face, assault charge

PORT CHARLOTTE — A 65-year-old Port Charlotte man is facing felony assault charges after reportedly spraying a man in the face with bug spray following a checkout line dispute at a grocery store.

Daniel John Kenel, of the 4100 block of Jingle Street, was arrested Sunday following an incident at the Publix store at 19451 Cochran Blvd., Port Charlotte, according to court reports released Tuesday.
