CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A 17-year-old was arrested after fleeing police at 105 mph and abandoning the car on the side of the road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
On September 2, state troopers attempted a traffic stop on I-75 after a black Mercedes raced by at over 100 mph, constituting a super speeder under the new Florida law.
The teenage boy driving the car did not stop for police and tried to flee. He eventually came to a stop on the side of the road in a wilderness preserve area and abandoned the car in a few feet of water, FHP said.
