Florida Man Accused Of Murdering Mother Months After She Sought Protection Order

A Florida man is facing second-degree murder charges after police say he brutally killed his mother, just months after she was granted a protection order against him. Devin Johnson, 28, was arrested in neighboring Collier County on Tuesday following a chaotic pursuit.

According to the Cape Coral Police Department, officers responded to Rosemary Johnson’s home after family members discovered her body and “bloody footprints” inside. The 69-year-old was found with numerous stab wounds to her head and neck.

The arrest of Devin Johnson came after a traffic stop, during which police say he was covered in blood. A struggle with Collier County deputies ensued, requiring the use of a police K9 to apprehend him.
