PORT CHARLOTTE — After learning a patient died in an ambulance reportedly blocked by dozens of cars in the parent pickup line, Charlotte Punta Gorda Metropolitan Planning Organization members want changes.
During the Citizens’ Advisory Committee chair report at the MPO meeting Thursday, Dianne Quilty said vehicles stack up or park in front of Deep Creek Elementary School while waiting to pick up their children.
“An ambulance wasn’t able to leave (and get through the stacked traffic) and the patient died due to the delay,” she said. “Our (advisory board) member Pauline Klein is deeply concerned about this issue.”…
