Shultz runs second best freshman time to lead women’s cross country

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Tess Shultz ran the second fastest 5K by a freshman to lead Florida Gulf Coast University women’s cross country at the Louisville Cross Country Classic.

Shultz produced a time of 17:48.1 for the women’s team — improving her previous mark of 17:56.75 that she ran two weeks ago, she finished in 51st place. Alise Petrova was up next in a time of 17:58.8 and grabbed 58th place. Addison Torres stopped the clock at 18:26.9 and Samantha Ruiz ran 18:56.1.

FGCU women’s team scored 510 points to earn an 18th overall team finish among 31 teams. Innocent Ntwali was the first Eagle to cross the line for the men’s team running 24:36.3 and finishing 39th. Evan Casterline stopped the clock at 24:59.9 and took 67th place. Nekhi Perry was 117th in a time 25:27.8…
