Man sentenced to life in prison for Lehigh Acres jewelry store burglary

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (WWSB) – A 55-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison after a burglary that occurred at the Lehigh Acres Jewelry Store in 2024, according to the Florida State Attorney’s Office.

Juan Antonio Manresa Leyva, 55, was convicted by a Lee County jury in September of grand larceny of more than $100,000, first-degree burglary causing more than $1,000 in damage, and possession of burglary tools.

Court records reveal that Manresa Leyva and two other men entered the store through the roof on February 11, 2024, bypassed alarms and cameras, and used a cutting torch to open a safe.

The three men were seen on security cameras by store owners, who then called 911 as the burglary was in progress. Deputies using helicopters fitted with infrared cameras found Manresa Leyva, who was hiding in the woods nearby after jumping from the roof of the store…
