CAPE CORAL, Florida — A motorcyclist was arrested for performing a wheelie on a public roadway Tuesday morning, according to the Cape Coral Police Department. The incident occurred around 7:36 a.m. near the 2200 block of Del Prado Boulevard North.
An officer observed a silver and blue Yamaha motorcycle heading southbound when the rider, identified as 23-year-old Jose Francisco Parilla Jr., of Cape Coral, Florida, performed a wheelie for approximately 40 yards. The officer followed Parilla, who looked back several times before slowing down near Del Prado Boulevard North and Diplomat Parkway East. The officer then activated emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop.
Parilla was detained safely and identified with a Florida driver’s license. He was informed that he was under arrest for “stunt driving,” a violation of Florida State Statute 316.191(2), which prohibits performing or engaging in dangerous motor vehicle activities such as wheelies on public roadways.
