CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — A man is accused of fraud and grand theft after cashing an almost $60,000 check for roof repairs that were never started after Hurricane Ian.
According to the Charlotte County Clerk, an investigation was launched into Reife Petersen with JSK Construction and Engineering after a man alleged that Petersen collected an insurance check worth $59,598.83 and a deposit worth approximately $2,400 from him for roof repairs following Hurricane Ian, but never started the repairs that were contracted for.
The check was made out to JKS Construction and Engineering on Dec. 21, 2022, and the victim submitted the fraud complaint on July 24, 2024. Detectives began investigating Petersen shortly after, the Charlotte County Clerk said…
