Man living in empty building by construction site accused of stealing nearly $9K in tools

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Deputies say a man living in an empty building in North Fort Myers was caught after nearly $9,000 worth of stolen tools were found right next door.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a property on Pondella Road after workers showed up and realized tools were missing, including a generator, saws, drills, and other construction gear.

While checking the property, they noticed a nearby vacant building with its doors open. Inside, they say they found the missing tools — and Eddie Wayne Mullins Jr., who told deputies he’d been staying there without permission…
