FORT MYERS, Fla. — Police in Fort Myers are asking for your help in identifying a man accused of attempting to scam $11,000 from an unsuspecting victim in Boston, with the incident occurring at the CVS on State Road 82 on Halloween.
According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, the suspect is accused of tricking the victim into overnight shipping a package containing $11,000 to the CVS, claiming it was part of a “Federal Reserve officer investigation.” The man later attempted to pick up the package under the name Joy Smith.
Fortunately, the money was returned to the victim with the help of the victim’s daughter, store management, and law enforcement. However, police are still seeking help to identify the scammer…
