Man accused of reckless driving with headlights off in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A man is accused of reckless driving in Fort Myers early Sunday morning.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, an officer was patrolling near Cleveland Avenue and Hanson Avenue at around 12:04 a.m. when they noticed a car traveling north on Cleveland Avenue at a high speed.

The officer began following the vehicle, which continued driving at a high speed with its headlights off. The car then turned onto Katherine Street and continued driving. There are three stop signs along the stretch of road the car traveled on, and FMPD said no brake lights were observed while the officer was following the car…
