57 Missing Children Recovered in Tampa Bay as Part of Statewide Rescue Operation

On November 17, 2025, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced the completion of ‘Operation Home for the Holidays.’ This child recovery initiative was led by the U.S. Marshals Service. The operation resulted in the location or safe recovery of 122 missing children. Officials stated that this was a significant effort in recent years. The operation took place over two weeks and included several major Florida cities. These cities were Tampa Bay, Orlando, Jacksonville, and Fort Myers. In Tampa Bay, 57 children were recovered. In Orlando, 14 children were found. Jacksonville saw 22 recoveries, and Fort Myers had 29. The operation also extended into nine other states, showing coordination across jurisdictions.

Attorney General Uthmeier recognized the work of Florida law enforcement. He highlighted the need to prosecute those responsible for harming children. Many of the children had experienced abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Uthmeier said the operation’s results were due to cooperation among federal, state, and local agencies. The operation led to six felony arrests. More charges may follow as investigations continue. The Office of Statewide Prosecution is handling several cases. These include cases of sexual battery on a child and custodial interference.
