Former Cape Coral nurse convicted of trafficking drugs from hospice

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A Cape Coral man was convicted of trafficking morphine and oxycodone following a jury trial in Lee County, the State Attorney’s office said on Thursday.

Stephen Francis Murphy, a former nurse, had 51 grams of morphine and 66 grams of liquid oxycodone that he took from Hope Hospice, his former place of employment. They were found in his bedroom when a search warrant was executed in his home.

Murphy’s sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 15…
