LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Florida lawmakers have approved seven proposals aimed at eliminating or reducing property taxes, with the governor advocating for a complete removal and offering voters a single ballot option.

Residents lined up to pay their property taxes, hoping it might be the last time they do so, as they face seven different options for eliminating property taxes.

Tom Ayer, from Cape Coral, expressed concern about the complexity of having multiple plans. “Seven seems like it’s going to be confusing for people, I think,” Ayer said. He, like many others, prefers a single plan. “The governor wanted to eliminate property taxes completely. I read another thing about giving a tax break to seniors over 65,” he said.
