Get your toes in the sand and marvel at intricate sculptures

The sands of Fort Myers Beach began to take shape Thursday, Nov. 20, as nearly 200 tons of tiny grains transform into fantastical works of art.

The 35th American Sand Sculpting Championship kicked off five full days of sculptors − including 10 masters, vendors, music and kids events. It takes place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Monday, Nov. 24, behind Diamondhead Beach Resort, 2000 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach.
