1. NOT JUST GATORS: FWC warns tourists about crocodiles

State wildlife officials are warning tourists about Florida’s American crocodile population.

“As seasonal residents return to Florida for the winter, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) reminds everyone to enjoy Florida’s unique wildlife responsibly and be aware of the state’s native species, including the American crocodile, which can be found in coastal regions of south Florida,” a November FWC press release says.

American crocodiles have come back from the brink of extinction in Florida, and they can be found in the Fort Myers-Sanibel-Naples area…
