The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is honoring Sgt. Elio Diaz, who was killed in the line of duty one year ago.
Shortly before 3 p.m. in 2024, Diaz pulled over a white pickup truck for a traffic stop at a Chevron gas station on Tamiami Trail across from Sunseeker Resort.
It was later revealed that during the stop, Andrew Mostyn Jr., 24, pulled out a rifle and shot Diaz. Diaz was taken to a hospital and died shortly afterward…
