The Town of Fort Myers Beach has received reports of a scam currently impacting our community. A criminal organization is sending fake utility notices to residents that appear to come from the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce. This is not legitimate.
Please know:
- Utility bills will never come from the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce.
- Official utility communications only come from the Town of Fort Myers Beach –Utility Billing and Water Services.
We have confirmed that two residents have already been harmed. In these cases, residents saw what appeared to be a reasonable utility charge (approximately $250), followed by a second unauthorized charge the next week of approximately $1,600.
