A Florida man accused of breaking into a residence on Friday is facing an additional animal cruelty charge for allegedly choking a law enforcement K-9 during his arrest.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded at around 9 a.m. Friday to a reported burglary in progress at an apartment in the Whiskey Creek area of Fort Myers. A victim reported that the suspect broke in while they were asleep, and was found sitting on the couch.
The suspect, later identified as Xzavier Jefferson of nearby Cape Coral fled the home, and a victim followed to provide authorities updates on his location…
