As children step on and off school buses across Lee County, hundreds of drivers illegally speed past them — a split-second decision that could quickly turn deadly.
The county’s new Bus Patrol initiative enforces the law that all drivers moving in either direction on a street must stop and remain stopped for a school bus displaying a stop signal.
