You won’t believe how much Lee County schools will take in bus fines

As children step on and off school buses across Lee County, hundreds of drivers illegally speed past them — a split-second decision that could quickly turn deadly.

The county’s new Bus Patrol initiative enforces the law that all drivers moving in either direction on a street must stop and remain stopped for a school bus displaying a stop signal.

In its first week of enforcement, the district issued 350 citations a day to drivers illegally passing stopped school buses. That’s 1,750 citations in five days…
