Construction at Jaycee Park is heading into its final contractual year, as Cape Coral city leaders continue to wrestle with unresolved design, cost and permitting decisions tied to the park’s most controversial updates.
The $12 million-plus renovation of the 11.8-acre park at 4215 SE 20th Place is scheduled for completion in April 2026. While much of the upland construction is now visible, including the bistro, bandshell and overlook boardwalk, the Cape Coral City Council has recently shifted its focus to major financial approvals and a new boat dock system.
At its Dec. 10 meeting, the City Council approved a $647,720.39 change order authorizing additional construction costs tied to floodproofing requirements, recreation features and the completion of the exterior shell of the park’s planned bistro building.
