With new residential rental registration fees in effect since Jan. 1, Cape Coral City Council will discuss Wednesday whether the fees should go into a special revenue fund dedicated to enforcement-related costs.
Resolution 279-25 established an annual $35 registration fee for long-term rentals and a $350 annual fee for short-term rentals. There is also a $50 late fee.
The registration program has staffing, operational and capital costs. Staffing costs include two code enforcement officers, two police officers, one research specialist and one contract administrative technician.
