Much needed rain expected for the Gulf Coast overnight

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Expect breezy winds to continue Sunday night as a cold front approaches Southwest Florida. A few isolated showers are possible from Sunday evening to midnight, but the main rainmaker will move across the area overnight.

A line of showers and a few isolated storms will move through the area from 1 a.m. to sunrise Monday morning. This line of showers could support a thunderstorm or two, along with some gusty winds.

Rain totals should remain relatively low; a few pockets of heavier totals beyond a half-inch are possible.

Rain chances will drop after the passage of this frontal boundary as drier air will move in. This cold front will be void of cold air and temperatures will remain slightly above average next week.
