TAMPA – Siya Mokgothu set a new school record in the 5,000m and was one of three Eagles to claim wins at the Tampa Spartans Open late Saturday night.
Mokgothu ran 8:27.69 to shatter the school 3K record by over 11 seconds as he claimed his first career win in the 3K and his second career win overall on the track. The Eagles junior won by nearly five seconds.
Also in the men’s 3K, Jacob Leon set a new freshman school record in the event by clocking 8:41.58, finishing sixth in the race. His time not only set a freshman school record but also posted the fifth-fastest time in program history…
