More shark bites were logged in the U.S. last year than anywhere else in the world with Florida ranking highest for unprovoked incidents, but Australia suffered the most fatal attacks, according to a report from the International Shark Attack File.
Southwest Florida is on the list, with two unprovoked attacks recorded in 2025.
