A former Florida Forest Service supervisor changed his plea less than a year after his arrest in his best friend’s 2023 boating death in Alva.
Anthony Curella, 38, of LaBelle, on March 2 pleaded no contest to amended charges of leaving a vessel accident with injury and tampering with evidence. State prosecutors amended the original vessel homicide charge as part of the plea.
Curella, who has remained jailed without bond since his Sept. 23, 2025, arrest, was sentenced to five years in prison, among other terms and conditions…
