Famous Florida bald eagle disappears from nest

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. (WFLA) — One half of a famous Florida bald eagle pair has not returned to the nest in days, according to Southwest Florida Eagle Cam.

The eagles, who are raising a baby nearing fledgling age, are the subjects of a 24/7 livestream with a huge social media following.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Southwest Florida Eagle Cam said there has been “no confirmed sighting of F23,” the female eagle, on camera since 8:12 a.m. on February 27.

Florida wildlife officials and CROW, a local wildlife rehabilitator, were alerted to keep an eye out for her. Anyone in the area is urged to contact FWC or CROW if they spot an injured or dead eagle.

For now, the male eagle, M15, and the baby, E26, are alone in the nest…
