Southwest Florida’s eagle community is reeling. F23, the much-loved female bald eagle, vanished after February 27, 2026, and everyone’s bracing for the worst. Her mate, M15, is now raising their eaglet, E26, on his own, a gut punch for everyone who’s watched the famous SWFL Eagle Cam over the years.

F23 wasn’t just another raptor on the screen. She was fiercely protective, always on alert, and totally committed to her nest. By March 3, word spread about a dead eagle found near the nest. That news hit hard. M15 kept showing up on the U-branch, waiting, sometimes bringing food, almost as if he hoped she’d come back. Viewers watching live felt the loss instantly.
