Coastal showers and storms return Friday afternoon

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Nearly 5 inches of rain fell near Punta Gorda Thursday evening before 8 p.m. which lead to minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

We’re in desperate need of rain as the entire Gulf Coast is now under extreme drought.

On Friday, we’ll see another afternoon with near-record heat and coastal evening showers.

Keep the umbrella handy as afternoon rain chances remain in the forecast. If you’re heading out to the beach or spring training games, be sure to stay hydrated as highs soar to the upper 80s both afternoons.
