Englewood artist Kathleen Hartman is celebrating a remarkable achievement after receiving an award for her acrylic painting “Virescence” at the 15th Biennial National Art Exhibition at the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda.
This year’s exhibition drew entries from artists across 36 states. Out of 491 submissions, only 130 pieces were selected by juror Teresa Kirk, making Hartman’s recognition an exceptional honor within a highly competitive field.
She received a National Art Exhibition Merit Award worth $250. Kirk commented that the “Dynamic mark-making generates a sense of energy that propels the eye through the composition. The colors compliment each other so much so that it is hard to look away.”…
