15 years in the making: 2026 is Charlotte County’s moment

The year was 2011. Adele was topping the charts with “Rolling in the Deep,” the world watched the royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, the final Harry Potter film hit theaters, and NASA’s Space Shuttle program took its final flight.

In the world of technology, we were meeting Siri for the first time on the iPhone 4S. And here in Charlotte County, 2011 was the last time our school district received an overall “A” district grade from the Florida Department of Education.

Much has changed in 15 years. Since that milestone, the community has weathered multiple hurricanes, navigated a global pandemic, and adapted to an increasingly digital world. The community has faced obstacles that 2011 couldn’t have imagined, yet through it all students and staff have emerged with the spirit that defines Charlotte County…
