LEE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida man was sentenced to five years in prison on Thursday in connection with his arrest in June 2025, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post on Friday.
Deputies attempted a traffic stop on Jophrey McCoy’s vehicle in June due to several drug violations, LCSO said.
Body camera footage shows McCoy fleeing as deputies approached his vehicle. Deputies shouted commands for McCoy to stop, but he ran into a nearby backyard and attempted to hide himself under an RV.
