A Southern gentleman with an arid sense of humor, Dan Weiss won’t drive his 2012 model-year Nor-Tech 390 Sport center console beyond the comfort level of his least experienced passenger. So Weiss and his wife, Julie, took it easy last weekend on guest Lauren Duerr, whose prior go-fast boating experience was limited to a couple of rides with equally considerate hosts.
Nor-Tech dealers Dan and Julie Weiss treated friends to a remarkable trip on their 2012 model-year Nor-Tech 390 Sport center console.
The 150-ish-mile trip from Cape Coral, Fla., to Hawks Cay Resort on Duck Key took a few hours in the 2-to-3-footers that the group—including this reporter—encountered in the Gulf. For most of the trip, Weiss ran the 39-footer at 50 to 55 mph, though he did take it to 65 mph a few times when the water smoothed out.
